Group Discovery Workshops
These
group programs (minimum of 10 children, maximum of 20) are available year–round
and starting times are flexible. We welcome groups of all types such as scouts,
home schoolers, summer campers, church groups, etc. Workshops are appropriate
for children ages 6-10. (For children under age 6, see our pre-school
programs.) Each workshop runs 90 minutes.

Ferry Farm Workshops
Nature Exploration ~ What creatures once lived at Ferry Farm and what creatures live here now? Children enjoy hunting for clues as they explore. They learn about forests, gardens, and animals through activities and crafts.
American Indians at Ferry Farm ~ How did American Indians in Virginia live and work in the natural environment? Explore this culture through crafts, hands-on activities, and games.
I Dig George ~ An archaeological experience geared to young children. Participants dig, wash, and mend artifacts they find in our educational digs on the property - Available June through August only.
Historic Kenmore Workshops
Play and Work in the 18th Century ~ Have fun at Historic Kenmore and learn about everyday 18th-century plantation life through a child's eyes. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the daily activities of children living in the 1700s. Activities will be different at every workshop and may include such activities as grinding corn, quill pen writing, making plaster pieces, playing colonial games, making sachets, stringing green beans, marching, dancing, and many other fun activities.
Costs:
- $10.00 per child
- There is no charge for accompanying adults
