The Great Oak Pavilion at Ferry Farm

A team of cadets from Virginia Military Institute (VMI) constructed the shed portion of the Great Oak Pavilion at Ferry Farm on the weekend of March 12, 2005. Led by Grigg Mullen, the group erected the shed extension for the pavilion. The team also practiced setting up the derrick that was used for lifting heavy timbers when construction of the main part of the pavilion began on March 25 as a joint effort between the Timber Framer's Guild, VMI, and George Washington's Fredericksburg Foundation..
