Archaeology Dig Diary - Wednesday, June 1

The field school has arrived. Fourteen students, one teaching assistant, and one professor are safely in the dorms and raring to go. Their first task was to remove the backfill from last year’s excavation. We used dirt to protect the site from the winter weather and need to remove it first thing. There is nothing like six hours of shoveling backfilled soil to help the students bond with their instructors and each other.
