Shakespeare On the Lawn at Kenmore

Macbeth comes to Historic Kenmore this weekend and next with four performances of this popular Shakespearean drama. Directed by Fred Franklin, The Fredericksburg Players present Macbeth in a colonial style—similar to the way George Washington might have enjoyed it. Arrive early to tour the mansion (5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.) and view the refurnishing project in progress. Bring folding chairs or a blanket, and a picnic! $10 adults, $5 students. Learn More...

The Fourth of July at Ferry Farm

Friday: July 4, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

Plan to celebrate Independence Day at the place where George Washington spent his boyhood years. This year’s theme: “Home Sweet Home” honors home and country with a variety of activities and entertainment for the entire family. Enjoy Washington farm archaeology, educational programs, a patriotic flag retirement ceremony, Colonial and Civil War re-enactors, crafts and exhibitors, and games.
   
As part of this year’s event, and in partnership with Stafford County in its 350th anniversary year, the Foundation is excited to welcome home the County’s own national recording artist, Mark Newton, with his musical partner Steve Thomas, for an afternoon performance of bluegrass music!
$1 per person; 2 and under free. 
Please - no pets, coolers, or alcohol.
Event parking at Eagles Lodge - 21 Cool Springs Road - Free trolley to Ferry Farm.

Volunteers Needed for the Fourth of July at Ferry Farm!

Please contact the Foundation at 540-370-0732 x27 or sherman@gwffoundation.org for information on helping at this Independence Day event. Opportunities include assisting with children’s games and crafts or event set-up/take-down as well as welcoming visitors and distributing programs. Volunteer together as a business, community, or civic group!
