Celebrate a special Independence Day – with the Washington house under construction – at George Washington’s boyhood home! Talk with restoration craftsmen and educators at the Washington house site and learn about colonial trades such as brick making and stone masonry. Honor Independence Day at a flag retirement ceremony with Congressman Rob Wittman (1st – Virginia) and government officials representing the Commonwealth of Virginia, Stafford County, and the City of Fredericksburg—scheduled for 1:00 p.m., visit with archaeologists, interact with re-enactors, and listen to patriotic music—including performances by Enduring Freedom Honor Team, who will perform in concert beginning at noon. Participate in hands-on activities for the whole family with this year’s theme “Building America”!
