Refurnishing at Historic Kenmore

Dining Room Refurnished and
Gaming Table!

Refurnishing Historic Kenmore

It is a perfect time to tour Historic Kenmore! The Dining Room is aglow with its newly-installed carpet and period furnishings returned. The elaborate floorcovering is composed of neoclassical medallions in shades of cream, gray, and black on a brilliant red background, framed by a banded laurel border. A fast-motion video of the carpet installation is posted on the Foundation's YouTube Channel.

On the same day the wool carpet was stretched and tacked in place, a gaming table – on loan to the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association for 70 years – was returned and installed in the Drawing Room. An extraordinary, felt-covered, top-fold table, ca. 1770, its provenance extends to the Washington family.
