The groundbreaking for the interpretive replica of the Washington house marked the beginning of the physical transformation of Ferry Farm—and in the weeks ahead it will be thrilling to start Phase 1 construction! 29th Annual Gingerbread House Contest & Exhibit at Ferry Farm

December 6 - 30 (Closed December 24 and 25)


A long-standing holiday tradition! Adults and children alike will enjoy the sights and smells of the festive creations displayed at George Washington’s Ferry Farm!

There is still time to enter! Entries are accepted from November 30 - December 5. The theme of this year's contest is “George Washington Slept Here."

A Wee Christmas - Dollhouses and Miniatures Show at Kenmore

December 6 - 30 (Closed December 24 and 25)
 

An exhibit for the yuletide season of 19 extraordinary dollhouses and miniatures displays - including the Kenmore mansion - in the Crowninshield Museum Building. Share memories of your dollhouse with children and grandchildren as you explore the treasures in this festive display!

Christmastime Programs for Children

  • Holiday Decorations Workshop at Kenmore
    Saturday, December 12, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
    Each child creates an ornament and a table centerpiece using natural materials, inspired by eighteenth-century designs. Ages 8-12.
  • Gingerbread Preschool Workshops at Ferry Farm
    December 7-21

    A wonderful holiday tradition for 4- and 5-year olds. Children listen to and act out Jan Brett’s “Gingerbread Baby” story and decorate a paper gingerbread house and a cookie. For preschool groups of 10 or more.

George Washington's Birthday Celebration and Archaeology Day

Save the dates for two fun-filled events in February at Ferry Farm. Celebrate Washington’s birthday with games, crafts, the Stone Throw Challenge (weather permitting) as well as, of course, birthday cake! On Archaeology Day, visit Ferry Farm to learn about the Washington house sitewith activities for the whole family.
