Peace Ball at Kenmore, 1924

July, 2008 ~ Peace Ball at Kenmore - 1924

This ball re-enactment was held in the Dining Room at Kenmore in 1924, likely as a fund-raising event, since the Kenmore Association didn't make the final payment on the house until January 1st, 1925. There are some interesting differences between the way the room looked then as compared to now. Notice, for instance, the narrow-board oak flooring and the wooden frames on the walls that the Howard family installed in the 1880s. The oak flooring was replaced with yellow pine by the Association in the late 1920s and the wooden frames were removed at that time. During the recent rennovation, plasterwork frames were installed where they were when the Lewises built Kenmore.
