Mr. Tom M. Tuck at Ferry Farm

May, 2008 ~ Mr. Tom Tuck at Ferry Farm

Tom M. Tuck, from Emporia, VA, used to come to Fredericksburg from time to time to visit a cousin who was a welder in town. He made such a visit around 1960 and his cousin challenged him to a stone throw. Down to the river they went. According to Mr. Tuck, he threw a stone all the way across and "it landed about 25 steps on other bank."

Mr. Tuck visited Ferry Farm in late April, 2008. Although he didn't attempt to recreate his feat of years ago, he fondly related the tale to a staff member. She managed to find a "gold" medal that was left over from a previous stone-toss event at Ferry Farm and rewarded Mr. Tuck for his original accomplishment.
