Kenmore has some of the most elaborate plaster ceilings to survive from colonial America. While the house undergoes extensive restoration, furnishings have been removed. As one visitor recently noted: "We feel that we truly saw Kenmore 'the building' and have a better understanding of its construction. The ceilings were simply stunning."
Discover these secrets and more during tours of Historic Kenmore, the 1770s plantation house built by patriot Fielding Lewis and his wife Betty, sister of George Washington. While the house undergoes an extensive restoration to preserve its fine plasterwork, its mysteries are solved daily as study yields clues about Kenmore’s builders.
