New Acquisition!

Introducing the latest addition to Kenmore’s Dining Room ceramics!

A large pearlware platter with molded blue shell edge decoration dating to approximately 1780 was recently acquired by the Foundation for display in the Dining Room.

In addition to it’s beautiful decoration, the platter also bears the merchant’s mark “A. King” on the back, but more research will be needed to determine who A. King may have been. You may recall that we discussed blue and green shell edge ceramics in this post, following the analysis of Kenmore’s archaeological finds last fall.

The platter is currently on display in the Dining Room closet, but it will periodically be rotated out to the dining table, where you just might see it serving roasted game birds, or perhaps even a boar’s head!
