Grounds Maintenance Tech

Job Description:

Assist in the stewardship and preservation of properties owned and operated by The George Washington Foundation to include Ferry Farm and Kenmore Historic Sites. Perform all assigned tasks within the Buildings and Grounds Department to ensure and promote a clean, safe and well maintained environment for staff and visitors. This position has a strong emphasis on Landscape Maintenance and Historic Preservation.

Responsibilities:

65% – Cyclical maintenance, repairs and upkeep of all landscaped areas, woodlands, wetlands, pathways and roadways, turf and field grasses, drain ways and all associated hardscapes. Manage natural resources.

15% – Assist with Security and janitorial procedures.

15% – Assist with Special event setups and miscellaneous repairs

5% – Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Must have minimum 3 years of continuous grounds related experience in a commercial or historic setting. Some knowledge of OSHA safe practices. Must be capable of operating tractors, mowers, chainsaws and other related farm and landscape equipment. Must have Valid Driver’s license. Must pass background check.

Requirements:

Must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions.

Must be able to walk long distances, stand, squat or kneel for extended periods of time. Must be able to work at heights of 20 ft. or more and lift more than 50 pounds repeatedly.

Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

This position is 40 hours a week with occasional weekends and evenings. This job is considered essential. You would be expected to respond to weather related emergencies.

$17.00/hour, plus benefits, paid leave and retirement. Hourly.
